Original art from the book Dragons. The original sketches are the hand-drawn basis for what later becomes my finished paintings. They’re all pencils on paper. Naturally, as originals, they’re all unique pieces. The size of the piece is 21 x 29,7 cm (roughly 8,3 x 11,7″). A signed copy of the finished illustration in the A3 format is included.
The Salamander is one of the smallest creatures in the book Dragons, but that makes it no less fascinating. Since ancient times people have spoken of a mysterious little dragon sometimes observed dancing in the flames of crackling fires. According to the mystic Paracelsus these creatures were Fire Elementals, nature spirits that embodied one of four elements – the building blocks of material reality according to medieval wisdom: earth, air, fire and water.
The illustration is from the book Dragons.
