Andrew Kuykendall – The Road
Taken from the car during one of Kuykendall’s long road trips through the desert, this image distills the sensation of motion into color and atmosphere: dusty yellows rising from sand swept across the road, a muted blue sky pressing down in soft weight. It is both fleeting and eternal—a fragment of travel turned into a timeless composition.
Andrew Kuykendall is a Los Angeles–born photographer and painter, educated at the Art Center College of Design. His work moves fluidly between documentary travel photography and painterly abstraction, often evoking the lyricism of American colorists such as William Eggleston, while carrying his own sense of intimacy and raw immediacy.
Printed on fine art paper, the image becomes a tactile record of landscape and memory—an artwork where impermanence and permanence meet.
