The Kraken is a fearsome sea monster that lurks below the waves of the North Sea. Icelandic and Norwegian fishermen describe it as a gigantic beast with many fins and tentacles, a prehistoric monster that slumbers in the eternal darkness of the sea bed, only to wake from time to time and ascend from the depths.
The illustration is from the book Vaesen.
