Hand painted second-hand shoes!
The shoes are painted with Angelus Leather paints, made to be used on flexible surfaces like shoes and clothes, without cracking. A coating of Angelus finisher is applied on top to protect the artwork, after which the shoes are treated with a water-and-stain repellant. The method has been tested for daily use, rainy days included.
How to care for your shoes: Use them normally! The idea is to lengthen the life of the shoes, not for them to be a fragile showpiece. There’s only a few do’s and don’ts:
Do NOT: Scrub clean. Instead, if you have stains that need to be removed, wipe gently with a damp cloth. Actively scrubbing with a rough cleaning item can cause more stress to the artwork than regular daily wear and the paint method is not tested for this.
Do: If you wish, apply a new coat of water-and-stain repellent every now and then. Frequency depends on usage, once or twice a year should do it for most.
